Each office answers a different question. Use these routes to avoid asking one custodian for a record held by another:
- For an arrest report, booking sheet, or original booking photograph, follow the request steps on the Home page and send the request to the LCSO records custodian.
- For someone reported as just arrested, current local custody, release status, or jail operations, telephone Lafayette County Jail. For custody alerts, use Florida VINE; it is a notification service, not a mugshot archive.
- For a warrant question, use LCSO's civil administration number and the safe process described under Sheriff's Most Wanted.
- For a filed criminal case, court date, or final disposition, search the Clerk's docket or contact the Clerk at the address above.
- For a sentenced state prisoner's profile or photograph, use the Florida Department of Corrections Offender Search.
- For federal prison custody, check the Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator. It does not publish inmate photographs.
- For qualifying immigration detention, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator, which is separate from Lafayette County Jail records.
